Bougainville Women’s Federation (BWF) plays an important role in advocating for gender equality, is included as an implementing agency for the Gender, Peace and Security Policy and implements a number of projects working to advance women’s leadership and economic empowerment. IWDA has partnered with BWF since 2012. Currently, IWDA and BWF are implementing two projects in partnership: the Young Women’s Leadership Project and Women’s Leadership Initiative.
The Young Women’s Leadership Program (2016-2018) is funded through DFAT’s Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development Program and addresses the needs and ambitions of young women seeking to increase their leadership effectiveness and provide a safe space in which young women can engage and support each other. It is working towards two mutually reinforcing goals:
- Young women will have stronger leadership skills and confidence, and a greater voice in local and regional government affairs and policy development.
- The Bougainville Women’s Federation is strengthened as a sustainable, inclusive representative body for women across Bougainville.
IWDA is seeking to engage an external consultant, or team of consultants, to evaluate the Young Women’s Leadership Program (2016-2018) through a participatory evaluation process. The evaluation will ensure that key learning are shared and contribute to future planning and implementation for young women’s leadership projects.
